Wellington is situated in the Boland, at the foot of Bainskloof, approximately 60 km from Cape Town, 45 km from Stellenbosch and 15 km from Paarl.
The town is surrounded by the Limiet and Hawequa mountains, with the Berg River flowing past the town. Wellington is situated in a wine producing region and is well known for its dried fruit, Ds. Andrew Murray and the SAD Marathon.
There are several educational institutions such as the Cape Town University of Technology (CPUT), Bible Media, as well as a variety of Primary and High schools. Wellington offers plenty to sports and outdoor enthusiasts in the form of rugby, tennis, cricket, hockey, swimming, cycling and more. The headquarters of Boland Rugby is situated here; there are two fully equipped gymnasiums and a 9-hole golf course.
